Sad News: Rangers star set to miss next Five matches in huge blow

Rangers expect Todd Cantwell to be out injured for at least three weeks, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder was forced off the field in the 60th minute in the Gers’ 3-0 win against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday (18 February) and was seen being treated with an ice pack.

Philippe Clement will be without the 25-year-old due to an injury to his hamstring, meaning he will miss key fixtures for the club.

Cantwell had already missed four league games and two Europa League group-stage clashes between September and October with a knee injury.

Rangers star Todd Cantwell expected to miss both Benfica matches

Now, he looks set to miss crucial league fixtures against Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Hibernian as well as both legs of their Europa League last-16 games against Benfica.

He will also struggle to be fit for the Dundee fixture before the international break.

The former Norwich City ace has made 33 appearances for Rangers this season and has scored six goals and provided four assists.

After a slow start to the season, Cantwell has bagged five of his goals in his last nine outings for the Gers and has been instrumental for the club surpassing arch-rivals Celtic at the summit of the table.

He joins the likes of Abdallah Sima, Rabbi Matondo and Danilo in the treatment room, but Clement has been boosted by the return of attacker Kemar Roofe.

Rangers remain top of the table after their 5-0 demolition of third-place Hearts on Saturday afternoon (24 February).

They are next in action against Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening (28 February).
