A ‘beloved’ adolescent unexpectedly passed away, leaving a distraught family in Glasgow.
Liam Stevenson, a Drumchapel resident, tragically passed away on Tuesday, February 27. Condolences have been received in abundance.
The 18-year-old was described by loved ones as a “talented footballer” with a “heart of pure gold.” In observance of the ardent Gers supporter, family members are now seeking for a minute of applause at Ibrox on Saturday, March 2, during Rangers’ match against Motherwell.
After losing her kid, Petrice Massey, a grieving mother, claims her entire world has fallen apart.
She stated to Glasgow Live: “My only child has broke my heart into a million pieces and my life will never be the same.”
Paige Massey, Liam’s aunt, continued, “He was a gifted football player who was adored by all.”
“Anyone he met he didn’t pass without stopping, he had the biggest heart with the most beautiful smile and he will be missed dearly by his mum, dad, Nana, papa, granny, grandad, aunties, uncles, cousins and all his friends.”
Paige, who was devastated, shared on Facebook the tragic news of her adolescent nephew’s death.
“Thank you for giving me the best laughs and memories for the short 18 years that you gave me at the age of 11 when you made me an aunt,” the woman wrote.
“You were a boy with an enormous personality and a heart of pure gold, and I will always treasure the silly photos and videos that you made of me, even though you detested me.” I shall adore you until the end of my life, just as Aunty Paigey did.
“I never imagined that my heart could be so devastated. Until we cross paths again, my lovely nephew Liam.”
Numerous individuals acquainted with Liam honoured the eighteen-year-old. Sons of Struth Football Academy, a young team in Glasgow, wrote a post on social media honouring their “one of a kind”
It said this: “Until 2020, Liam was a member of one of our most successful teams. Just before we went into lockdown, Liam, a fantastic player, was chosen to go on a two-week training camp at Benfica. Regretfully, the trip never happened, and we were all sad for him.
“We are all shocked to learn of his passing, which we learned about earlier today. We send our deepest sympathies to his mother Petrice and grandmother Carol-Ann, who were both ardent club supporters. Liam, may God bless you. You were unique in the world.
Today, March 1, friends and family of the 18-year-old will assemble on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal to release balloons in honour of Liam. As a gesture of respect for the football-crazy kid on Saturday, the family is also requesting fans in attendance at Rangers vs. Motherwell at Ibrox to stand and cheer at the eighteenth minute.
