As of January 2023, Hector has played 53 games with the Addicks since joining the team. Hector is, however, free to pursue new opportunities as Charlton manager Nathan Jones tries to restructure his team.

The 31-year-old is well-known in Yorkshire, where he had successful loan stints at Sheffield Wednesday and before leaving Chelsea. Before joining the Owls for the 2018–19 season, he played with the Tigers in 2017–18.

When Hector came to Hillsborough in 2018, he immediately became a fan favorite because of his reliable presence in the Hull backline. He appeared in 39 games for the Owls in all, winning Player of the Year for the team.

The Hillsborough supporters would have like to see Hector stay, but a long-term relocation to S6 never happened. Rather, he permanently departed Chelsea to join Fulham.

He enjoyed a period as a free agent after three years at Craven Cottage until Charlton signed him. Charlton released the following statement: “We would like to thank all of the departing players for their contributions to Charlton and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
