Four arrests after disturbance with knives near Epsom pizza shop

Following a knife-wielding violent altercation outside a pizzeria, four males have been taken into custody in Epsom.

Around 9.30 p.m. on April 24, there were complaints of violence outside Papa John’s on Epsom High Street, which prompted the arrests.

The gang was detained on suspicion of possessing knives or other sharp objects in public, having an offensive weapon in a public setting, and having class B substances with the intent to provide them.

In addition, three of the men were placed under suspension for affray.

A Green Renault Scenic thought to be connected to the suspects was observed driving away from the incident and was later stopped at Clacket Lane services when police arrived.

In the interim, the men who had been arrested were released on bond.

Police are urging anyone with information or video that may be available, or who may have witnessed something, to come forward and provide it. They ask that you reference case number PR/45240045930.

“Four men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs, possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place,” an Epsom and Ewell Police spokeswoman said.

In response to reports of a violent incident in Epsom on Wednesday, April 24, three of the men were also detained on suspicion of affray.

“They were given bail and released while the investigation is ongoing.

On Wednesday, April 24, at about 9:30 p.m., there were complaints of a disturbance involving a group of guys outside Papa John’s on Epsom High Street. This prompted police to respond.

“A Green Renault Scenic was spotted driving away from the scene when police arrived. Afterwards, the car was pulled over by police at Clacket Lane Services.

“On Wednesday night, were you in the vicinity of Epsom High Street?”
