In order to raise money to balance the books and ultimately bolster the rest of his team, Emery has not ruled out Aston Villa selling players this summer.

Regulations pertaining to sustainability and profitability have been put in place to make sure Premier League clubs have not lost more than £105 million in the preceding three seasons. Villa is scheduled to reveal its 2023 financial statements in the coming weeks. However, there have been rumours in the media that the club might have to sell certain assets if they wish to make financial improvements to Emery’s squad.

Last summer, Villa raised almost £40 million by selling academy graduates Cameron Archer, Jaden Philogene, and Aaron Ramsey. This money was used to assist finance the summer acquisitions of Moussa Diaby and Pau Torres.

Villa follows the regulations, but we are talking with the owners frequently, Emery said in response to a question about whether the club may need to raise money this summer. It’s not a play.

“Although we are in this situation, we must attempt to find equilibrium. We are attempting to formulate a strategy and need to strike a balance by making certain decisions according to our wishes.

Unai Emery was asked about Aston Villa's FFP situation this afternoon

“We constantly want to get better as a team and as a squad, so we can keep getting stronger. However, we will have to act if we need to adhere to certain guidelines and make a single decision to alter something inside the team.”
