3 midfielders Sheffield Wednesday should consider amid rival interest in Spurs starlet

Prior to the summer transfer season, Sheffield Wednesday is allegedly interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Matthew Craig.

Spurs youngster Craig has been linked to Sheffield Wednesday and Championship rivals Millwall, following an impressive loan period with League Two side Doncaster Rovers.

Craig appears destined for a promotion the following season after excelling on his first senior loan. But loans may be erratic, and the Owls need to remain flexible in front of the summer given the competition for their talent.

That being said, Sheffield Wednesday may want to consider these three Craig substitutes.

of the WolvesThe 21-year-old midfielder Hodge, who is now on loan at QPR, has previously experienced life at the Championship level. Although Wolves’ future plans for him are still unknown, a second-tier loan with potentially greater playing time is not ruled out.

The former Manchester City star is a dynamic presence in the midfield, providing advantageous defensive qualities in addition to his offensive danger as a box-to-box player. Sheffield Wednesday should definitely keep a watch on him this summer.

Lamare Bogarde – Villa Aston

During his youth career, Bogarde made a smooth transition from center-back to defensive midfield, and Sheffield Wednesday may find the Rotterdam native to be a compelling alternative.

The former Bristol Rovers loan player has not been given many opportunities to play in the first team at Aston Villa. However, as his contract at Villa Park expires in 2025, he may be able to secure a long-term agreement if he were to make an impression.

Bogarde moved into midfield because he is a calm player on the ball, but throughout his center-back career, he provided adaptability and a defensive mindset that few players his age could match.

Fulham’s Matt Dibley-Dias
Not to be overlooked for Sheffield Wednesday is Dibley-Dias, a 19-year-old international from New Zealand who, considering his lack of senior experience, might be a bit more of a gamble.

But in his youth, the midfielder has been quite impressive for Fulham’s U18 and U21 teams. Because of this, a promotion ought to be imminent, and there’s no reason he can’t start playing for the first team right away.
