Former Dundee United man joins EFL club ahead of Walsall trip

Maxime Biamou, a striker, has joined Doncaster Rovers after leaving Dundee United in 2022, the club’s official website reported.

In an attempt to move climb the League Two standings, Doncaster Rovers have given the attacker a short-term contract.

The 33-year-old Biamou has been on trial with the Yorkshire team and recently participated in a game against Tranmere Rovers behind closed doors.

He has now officially signed with Rovers through the summer, pending international clearance, the team has stated. Before their away game against Walsall this weekend, he has been given the number 36 shirt.

New face at Doncaster Rovers

Between now and the end of the campaign, Biamou will provide Doncaster greater competition and depth in offensive areas. He is a risk-free addition.

In an effort to move up from the bottom two, he will also add additional experience to Grant McCann’s team.

Before coming to England in 2016 to join Sutton United, the Frenchman had stints as a young player with Villemomble Sports and Moulins Yzeure in his own country.

During his year in the National League, he was a sensation with the U’s, scoring 13 goals across all competitions to win a transfer to Coventry City.

After that, Biamou played with the Sky Blues for four years, scoring 26 goals in 115 games as he helped the team ascend from the fourth division to the Championship.

At the conclusion of the 2020–21 season, he departed Mark Robins’ team and was subsequently signed on a free transfer by Dundee United. He only played three games in Scotland, though, and was unable to have much of an impression.

Doncaster will be keen to maintain their momentum against Walsall since they have been playing well lately.
