Doncaster Rovers have taken former Coventry City and Dundee United forward Maxime Biamou on trial.
The 33-year-old is a seasoned professional who has worked in all three EFL divisions. He was a member of the Coventry team that qualified for promotion from League One two years later after they had escaped League Two in 2018.
Injury has halted the Frenchman’s career in recent years, but Rovers manager Grant McCann is now evaluating him.
Max is someone I’ve known about for a long time, McCann stated, as published by the Doncaster Free Press. After a stellar performance at Coventry, he travelled to Scotland and sustained the same injury as Zain Westbrooke.
“He hasn’t had a club for a year and a half since he returned to France to recover. With Coventry, he has advanced through the leagues. We are aware of his skill as a player and his slight physicality. We’ll watch his progress.”
Though a decision regarding his future has not yet been made, Biamou recently played in a friendly match against Tranmere Rovers behind closed doors.
“He looked sharp in the Tranmere game, playing 60 minutes,” McCann clarified. When I questioned him later where he was physically on a scale of one to ten, he said that he was about a seven. Although no concrete decision has been taken yet, he is in good health.”
