Rangers manager responds to reports surrounding Premier League-linked star

Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland “deserves” to play for England, according to Philippe Clement, but only if Gareth Southgate agrees!

The Rangers boss was commenting in the midst of rumors that the 30-year-old will soon receive a recall to the Three Lions following a five-year hiatus.

At one point in his career, Jack Butland was considered one of the best young players in England, having won nine caps.

Michel Clement regarding Gareth Southgate
Since joining Rangers in the summer, Jack Butland has been having a rebirth, and Philippe Clement thinks he deserves a call-up from England.

In response to a question regarding those accumulating Butland reports, the Ibrox manager spoke prior to the match at Rugby Park versus Kilmarnock.

It’s evident that Clement thinks Butland has England talent because he asserts that the Rangers goalkeeper is a leader and significant figure in the Ibrox locker room.

However, the Rangers manager once more placed the responsibility for the choice on England manager Gareth Southgate.

Clement remarked, “I would love that he could be there.” Since he is deserving of it. That’s how ready he is.

“Obviously, it is Gareth Southgate’s responsibility to decide if he deserves it sufficiently. Yes, despite having less work to accomplish the past few weeks, he has been a huge asset to the team.

“He maintains the same level of focus and gravity. He is crucial in the training area and the dressing room, and his importance will only grow over the coming days, weeks, and months.

“Because you need people with personality and we have a lot of important games to go.”
