Valerien Ismael’s dismissal from Watford last month was a significant managerial move.

The Frenchman was hired in May of last year, but he was not at Vicarage Road for more than a year.

After winning just one of their previous ten league games, the team was 13th in the Championship when he was fired.

Ismael’s exit made him the 18th manager to leave Watford in the previous ten years. Even though the Hornets have already taken that decision, the Vicarage Road administrators will soon need to make a significant managerial decision.

Watford needs to secure a long-term substitute for Valerien Ismael.

Watford has not yet decided who will eventually succeed the Frenchman, even though they have made the decision to fire Ismael from his role at Vicarage Road.

For the duration of the season, Tom Cleverley, who was named manager on an interim basis, will be in charge of the first team.

In the aftermath, however, it is unclear who will run the club. They will undoubtedly have to make the correct choice when it comes to that, given their undeniable desire to return to the Premier League as soon as possible.

It could be argued, therefore, that Watford should now be paying close attention to one club in particular—their Championship opponents, Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny Rohl of Sheffield Wednesday may be a good choice for the Watford opening.

After being promoted back to the Championship at the end of the previous season, Wednesday had a difficult transition to life in the second division.

Xisco Munoz, a former Watford manager, was first appointed manager at Hillsborough when Darren Moore left before the season began.

But that appointment just did not work out, and when he lost every game in the Championship, he was fired at the beginning of October.

The Owls appeared doomed to be sent back to League One right then and there. That has somewhat altered, though, with the selection of Danny Rohl to take over in Yorkshire.
