Zac Jones agrees new one-year deal with the Bluebirds

It is with great pleasure that Haverfordwest County AFC announces the signing of Zac Jones to a new, one-year contract.

The custodian became one of the most significant players in the recent past after moving to the Ogi Bridge Meadow in January 2022.

Zac made his team debut in August 2022 against Airbus UK Broughton, and since then, he has made 53 appearances for the Town across all competitions, sharing many significant milestones in the process.

With his penalty save in the play-off semi-final victory at Cardiff Metropolitan, two more saves in the shoot-out, and yet another spot-kick save in the final at Newtown, the New Zealander was a key player in ending our 19-year wait to return to Europe. It was a day that those who were in attendance will never forget.

Shortly after our European qualifying, he signed a new contract that would keep him until the end of the current campaign.

But his exploits didn’t end there. On what was unquestionably the greatest night in the 125-year history of the club, he again proved to be victorious in the UEFA Europa Conference League first qualifying round victory over European regulars KF Shkëndija, making two more penalty saves, including the game-winning one.

Bluebirds fans can now look forward to seeing him at the Ogi Bridge Meadow for another season because of his impressive performances between the posts in the 2023–24 campaign. He has been one of our most consistent players thus far in the season.

Zac expressed his happiness at extending his stay at the club for another year after agreeing to a new contract.

“I feel like I’ve learned a lot and have truly loved my stay here. Undoubtedly, the European qualifications were a highlight of the season. However, we, the boys, would like to relive that experience.

“The upcoming months hold great significance. We obviously aren’t where we want to be as a team, but we must make sure we hold onto this play-off spot.

“We’ll definitely be competing right at the top of the table next season, which excites me.”
