Tony Mowbray update after health scare as Birmingham assistant confirms ex Celtic and Hibs boss is on the mend

Although he has lately taken a leave of absence from Birmingham City, the 60-year-old is now in command of the team.

Tony Mowbray, the manager of Birmingham City, is “getting stronger” following surgery, according to assistant manager Mark Venus.

Former Hibs and Celtics executives Mowbray was only promoted to the dugout last month, but he took a 10-day leave of absence to receive medical attention for a health issue. However, his number two Venus provided an upbeat report on the 60-year-old’s condition during a pre-game news conference prior to Saturday’s Blues Championship encounter at home against Southampton.

“To be honest, I’ve talked to him every day,” he stated. A brief update: everything is good after his operation. He should be returning soon because he is becoming stronger. It’s been wonderful talking to him and hearing him out, though I won’t say that right away. It has bolstered our confidence a little. He provided the boys with a brief update this morning (Thursday). They kept asking, all of them. We’re keeping everyone informed about it. He is growing more powerful.”
