Callum McGregor Celtic injury panic escalates as Brendan Rodgers explains training absence

The skipper missed the final training session before the Premiership clash with Hearts at Tynecastle.

Callum McGregor, the captain of Celtic, is doubtful for the match against Hearts after Brendan Rodgers disclosed the severity of his injury.

Only a few days after Daniel Kelly replaced him at halftime during the 7-1 victory against Dundee, the captain led the conspicuous absentees from training at Lennoxtown. After substituting the teenager for the captain after halftime, Brendan Rodgers acknowledged that the captain might not play in the vital Scottish Premiership match at Tynecastle. He also said the captain’s achilles knock will be evaluated over the course of the following day.

It happens after Tomoki Iwata was used in the defensive midfield position for McGregor during the wins over Motherwell and Dundee. “Callum came off at half-time during the week; he felt his achilles a little bit and his calf…we just have to assess that and see where he is at over the next 24 hours,” the Celtic manager stated prior to the team’s trip to Gorgie.
