Ipswich Town want West Ham and Newcastle United stars, report claims

Premier League teams Newcastle United and West Ham United are interested in signing Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis to a summer contract, as talkSPORT reports.
This season, Ipswich Town has shocked a lot of people with the way they have pushed for the Championship’s automatic promotion spots. They are now tied for second position in the table with Leeds United, trailing them only by goal differential, and are in third place right now.

Davis is one guy that has been crucial to their relative success this season thus far. Despite having played less games than Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Georginio Rutter of Leicester City and Leeds United, who both have the same amount of assists, the 24-year-old left-back has amassed a shared league high of 12 assists.

Teams in the tier above are now taking notice of Davis’ form. West Ham United and Newcastle United are reportedly eager to sign the midfielder, and if the Tractor Boys don’t get promoted, more teams are probably going to show interest as well, according to talkSPORT.

The most likely destination?

Not only do Davis’ assist numbers make him an unsurprising target for clubs, but due to his defensive capabilities and impact in a side fighting for promotion too. Should Ipswich Town get promoted he could stay at Portman Road, but if not, a move elsewhere could be on the cards.

Both Newcastle United and West Ham United are in the market for new left-backs and both could be playing in Europe next season. Therefore, Davis will have a huge decision to make on where he plays his football next time out.

Among the two teams interested in signing him and sticking with his current team, a move to Newcastle United seems like the most likely outcome. Davis was raised in Newcastle, so returning to the team he loved as a child may be a dream come true.
