“Ousmane is a tremendous young player who proved his talented skillset at the collegiate level, winning numerous individual accolades and team honors,” said General Manager Pat Onstad. “He joined us for preseason, where he confirmed why the club had its eye on him as we navigated the draft process. We are thrilled he will begin his professional career in Houston and look forward to watching him develop in the years to come.” A native of Dakar, Senegal, Sylla led the Tigers in goals, assists and points last season. He led the Tigers to their second NCAA Championship in three seasons, scoring a goal in the championship game against Notre Dame to put the Tigers up 2-0 at the time.

Sylla appeared in 71 matches and started 58 in four seasons at Clemson. The 22-year-old tallied 24 goals and 24 assists in his time with the Tigers, including careers highs in goals and assists during his senior season. Prior to playing collegiate soccer, Sylla played club soccer with the Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy in Florida.
