Darren Bent has suggested former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper as a potential managerial candidate for Sunderland.
The former Ipswich Town and Sunderland striker has said that he is shocked that Cooper is still available.

Steve Cooper has been mentioned by Darren Bent as a possible manager candidate for Sunderland.
The former Sunderland striker believes Cooper would make a valuable addition to the Black Cats in place of Michael Beale.
After just 12 games, Sunderland, who could lose Chris Rigg, split ways with former Rangers boss Beale. In December, he took Tony Mowbray’s place.
Following his dismissal from Premier League team Nottingham Forest in December, Cooper is currently without a managerial position.
With 47 points from 33 games, Sunderland—who traded Alex Pritchard during the January transfer window—is currently four points outside of the playoff berths in the Championship standings, ranked 10th.

In my opinion, Steve Cooper is not likely to accept the Sunderland position.

Forest was under Cooper’s supervision just until December. His ability as a Premier League manager has been demonstrated.

I fail to see why Cooper would be eager to move down a rung and take a managerial position in the Championship.
Yes, I am aware of how big of a club Sunderland is. Furthermore, I am aware that the Black Cats are barely in the postseason.
However, Cooper would undoubtedly take note of Sunderland’s two managerial dismissals thus far this season and become concerned.
