Football schedule for FSU in 2024: dates, opponents

The official 2024 schedule for Florida State Seminoles football is available here.

The 2024 schedule for Florida State Seminoles football has been finalized.

With games on Monday (against the Boston College Eagles) and Friday (against the Duke Blue Devils), first-ever all-time games against new ACC members Cal and SMU, a trip to Ireland to play the Georgia Yellow Jackets, and non-conference games against Memphis Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Charleston Southern Buccaneers, and Florida Gators, the schedule is among the most intriguing that an FSU team has ever had.

“We are pleased to have finalized our schedule for 2024,” head coach Mike Norvell stated. “Three new teams have joined the conference, and the ACC’s new scheduling structure produces exciting new matchups that offer our fans exciting opponents at home and new travel destinations.” It is a unique experience for this team to begin the season with the first international game in program history because of our incredible history. Returning to a sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium for the home opener on Labor Day night will be an even more memorable occasion for both the team and the supporters. The timetable for this year gives us several chances to highlight our program’s ongoing ascent among the top in the country.

Returning to a sold-out Doak Campbell Stadium for the home opener on Labor Day night will be an even more memorable occasion for both the team and the supporters. The timetable for this year gives us several chances to highlight our program’s ongoing ascent among the top in the country.

The Aer Lingus College Football Classic, which takes place in Dublin, Ireland on August 24, will mark the program’s first international match between Florida State and Georgia Tech. August 24, 2002, in Kansas City, was the date of the program’s first-ever game, which ended in a 38-31 victory over Iowa State. Florida State has an all-time record of 15-11-1 against the Yellow Jackets, including a 15-4 record since the Seminoles’ ACC admission before to the 1992 campaign. In season openers, Florida State is 56-21 all-time.

On September 2, the Seminoles will play their home opener versus Boston College. After hosting Notre Dame on Sunday night in 2021 and playing LSU in neutral-site matches on Labor Day weekend the previous two seasons, this Labor Day night clash marks FSU’s fourth consecutive stand-alone game of the weekend. This Labor Day, Florida State will be playing in Doak Campbell Stadium for the fourth time, and it will be making its eighth appearance overall. For the first time since opening weekend matches against North Carolina, Maryland, and Georgia Tech in 2003, FSU is starting the season with back-to-back ACC games. Having won 12 of the previous 13 meetings, Florida State leads Boston College in the all-time series 16-5.

The Seminoles host Cal on September 21 to resume ACC play after hosting Memphis at home on September 14 and having a free date after the Labor Day game. For the first time since 1990, FSU is playing Memphis; it leads the all-time series 10-7-1 and has won the last nine meetings between the two teams. Cal and Florida State have never faced off on the football field.

Florida State then faces another new member of the ACC on September 28 when it travels to Dallas to face SMU. The Seminoles and Mustangs will meet for the first time, and the matchup will mark FSU’s first road game in the state of Texas since defeating North Texas State in 1976. Since then, Florida State has played three games in Texas, defeating Texas A&M in the 1992 Cotton Bowl and Oklahoma State in the 2014 season opener at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and facing Arizona State in the 2019 Sun Bowl in El Paso.

On October 5, the Seminoles entertain Clemson at home. FSU has a 21-15 all-time advantage over the Tigers, with a 31-24 triumph at Clemson University in the previous season. Following a second open date, FSU will go on a two-game road tour, starting on Friday, October 18, at Duke, and ending on Saturday, October 26, at Miami. With a 38-20 victory over the 18th-ranked Blue Devils in Tallahassee in 2023, Florida State owns a 22-0 advantage over Duke in the all-time series. The Hurricanes have seen three straight victories for Florida State.

On November 2, Florida State will host North Carolina to complete their ACC schedule. With a 17-3-1 advantage in the all-time series and two straight victories under Norvell, the Seminoles defeated the No. 5 Tar Heels at home in 2020 and triumphed 35-25 at Chapel Hill in 2021. November 2 is the earliest conference finale nationally in 2024 among schedules made public thus far, and it will also be the earliest FSU has played its last conference game since joining the ACC.

On November 9, the Seminoles will visit Notre Dame to continue a series that FSU leads 6-5. Following its third off-day, Florida State will host Charleston Southern on November 23 and Florida on November 30 to wrap off the season at home. The Seminoles have a 2-0 record against Charleston Southern, having defeated them in 2011 and 2016. In Tallahassee, they have defeated the Gators in three of the last four home games.

With a 13-0 record that includes an ACC Championship Game victory over No. 14 Louisville and a No. 4 position in the final Associated Press poll of the regular season, Florida State won its 16th ACC championship in program history last season. The Seminoles produced an ACC-high and program-record 25 all-conference honors, including at least one at every position led by ACC Player of the Year and first-team all-conference quarterback Jordan Travis. They also wrote the program’s third 13-win season and eighth undefeated regular season.

The 2024 season will last 14 weeks, with three available dates for Florida State because of their Week 0 matchup. The other weekends are Labor Day weekend and Thanksgiving weekend. The ACC now has 17 football members after the admission of Cal, Stanford, and SMU. Each team will still play eight league games annually, with Miami and Clemson serving as FSU’s two regular opponents. On December 7, the ACC Championship Game will take place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, between the two teams having the highest conference winning percentage.

Season ticket holders may renew online for both their season tickets and their 2024 annual fund membership, with a Friday, February 16 priority deadline. Depending on availability, new season tickets are scheduled to go on sale in May. Click here to add your name to the queue.
