Hyeokkyu Kwon could be set for longer St Mirren stay as Celtic talks confirmed

The SMiSA supporters have already come to love the South Korean midfielder.

St. Mirren and Celtic have begun discussions over the potential to prolong Hyeokkyu Kwon’s romance in Paisley.

Since joining on loan last month, the South Korean midfielder has been a huge hit with the Buddies supporters.

In the Premiership match on Saturday against St Johnstone, it appeared as though he had scored his first goal for Saints, but following a VAR screen review, referee Grant Irvine disallowed it.

Although he understands that the Glasgow giants will have the final say, manager Stephen Robinson is pleased with Kwon’s performance and hopes he can stay at the SMiSA next season.

St Mirren's on-loan Celtic midfielder Hyeokkyu KwonRobbo remarked yesterday that “he’s been terrific since he came into the club.” He is an extremely gifted player who has been a breath of new air. He offers us a great deal of game ownership and genuine poise while handling the ball.

We truly want to hold on to him. We’re having a conversation with Celtic about it, and we might decide to retain him for an additional season.

“We’d be very keen to do that but he isn’t our player and that won’t be our decision.

“We knew he’d have an influence, it was about getting him game time. He hasn’t played a lot.
