Gary O’Neil issues encouraging injury update on £60k-a-week Wolves star

Matheus Cunha’s “serious” hamstring injury earlier this month shocked Wolves supporters, but the attacker’s recuperation has been going great, and Gary O’Neil provided a very encouraging report on the star today.

Cunha had been playing well before getting hurt against Brentford in the first half.

With 11 goals and seven assists for Wolves in all competitions, the Brazilian has established himself as one of the key members of the squad.

Fans were therefore naturally devastated to learn of his “severe” hamstring injury.

However, it appears like Cunha’s recuperation is doing quite nicely, since Gary O’Neil has now offered another positive report.

Gary O’Neil says Matheus Cunha is back on the grass at Compton after ‘significant’ hamstring injury for Wolves

Gary O’Neil reports that Matheus Cunha has returned to the pitch at Compton following a “serious” hamstring injury sustained by Wolves.

He stated: “He’s doing well” (via E&S). He returned to the grass and engaged in a little running.

“His workout regimen has been going pretty well, and in the coming week or so, he’ll probably get another scan to see how the mending is going.

He’s really positive and happy with the way things are going, but there are still a lot of things he needs to do in order to return as soon as he wants to.

“Thus far, so good. Everything is going smoothly and in the correct direction.

Cunha return will be huge for Wolves

It’s wonderful to learn that Cunha has resumed modest running on the grass.

Fans of Wolves were rather concerned when they heard the term “significant hamstring injury,” but it sounds like he’s recovering quite nicely and may not be out for too long. That’s great news, especially since Wolves are now vying for a spot in the European football league.

In fact, O’Neil stated last week that the player has been surprise and impressing the physios, so all appears well.

When the £60,000-per-week South American becomes available for Wolves once more, whenever that may be, it will be a significant boost. He was possibly the most in-form player in Old Gold and possibly the best player in the Premier League before to his injury.
