Stoke City set for Steven Schumacher replacements, 50-year-old shortlisted

According to Football Insider, Stoke City has been looking at Gareth Ainsworth as a possible successor for Steven Schumacher.

In December, Stoke City made the decision to bring Schumacher to the Bet365 Stadium. He took over for the outgoing incumbent Alex Neil at Home Park after an incredibly successful spell at Championship rivals Plymouth Argyle.

Nevertheless, since the managerial transition, the Potters’ fortunes have not changed. They had lost four straight games until their much-needed victory over relegation-threatened QPR on Wednesday night.

Unbelievable rumors regarding Schumacher’s future at Stoke City have now surfaced.

Although there is less pressure now following QPR’s victory, according to Football Insider, Schumacher is still “fighting to keep his job” with the Potters. The club has been thinking about possible replacements as a result, and Gareth Ainsworth’s name has been shortlisted.

The fifty-year-old is unemployed following his departure from QPR earlier this season.

Unexpected changes
Early on in Schumacher’s stay at Stoke City, there were concerns raised. Some people have reservations about their ability to turn things around, but many believe that after only two months in office, he should have more time to do it.

Not to mention, the timing of these statements is intriguing. Rumors of replacements being considered are unlikely to lift Schumacher’s emotions after a possibly historic victory, especially considering the impending week’s events.

Regarding a substitute, Ainsworth would undoubtedly draw attention as well. While he only managed to get Wycombe Wanderers to safety the previous season, he ultimately failed for success at QPR. Nevertheless, he showed himself to be an excellent motivator there.

If anything comes of these rumors, only time will tell.
