Sheffield Wednesday target arrives at city hotel ahead of possible deadline move

It is said that this Sheffield Wednesday target has arrived in the city before making a last-minute move to S6.

It appears that Sheffield Wednesday may oversee a few transfers today, with Duncan McGuire perhaps joining Hillsborough.

To finalize his transfer to Blackburn Rovers, the Orlando City and USMNT striker took a plane to England yesterday.

However, it has been reported that following much back and forth, the 22-year-old is currently in Sheffield hoping to finalize a transfer to Danny Rohl’s team.

Reporter and journalist Alan Myers said on X this afternoon that McGuire was now staying at a hotel in Sheffield in an attempt to finalize a transfer to the Owls.

McGuire would be the third player signed by Sheffield Wednesday in January following the loan signings of Ike Ugbo and James Beadle.

However, there are rumors that Sheffield Wednesday may run into some last-minute obstacles in their attempt to sign McGuire, as the Owls are now more interested in exploring a possible loan arrangement.

Barring any further last-minute alterations, McGuire appears ready to finalize his move to Sheffield Wednesday after initially seemed destined to join Blackburn Rovers.

It is obvious that time is of the essence.

The Owls and Orlando City need to reach a mutual understanding on the terms of the deal, but the fact that Sheffield Wednesday had previously placed a bid for the striker indicates that they may have some cash left over in the last few hours of the January transfer window.

And everyone will breathe a great sigh of relief—Rohl, Sheffield Wednesday supporters, and McGuire—if Wednesday can close this transaction.

After what appears to have been a difficult 48 hours, the promising striker—who scored 15 goals in all competitions for Orlando in 2023—now appears to be waiting to finalize his move to South Yorkshire.
